The Super Soaker SS 40 is one of the later-released original generation Super Soaker. It is slightly smaller in size than the Super Soaker SS 50, but overall has a more rugged construction. The reservoir does not hold that much water, but considering its size, the tank will suffice. As this soaker is no longer being manufactured, the one iSoaker.com has acquired will not be opened for range testing and shot times. From various accounts from people who have used this soaker, it does perform well for an early generation water blaster.

One of the main problems with the SS 40 is its rather small pump volume it has for pressurizing the tank. The second major problem is the joint where the reservoir attaches to the rest of the blaster. The attachment region is a common area for soakers based on this design to break and/or leak. Otherwise, the blaster is reportedly quite good.

Of course, being one of the earlier water blasters, the Super Soaker SS 40 lacks in performance when compared to the newer water blasters.

Pros

Small, light, and relatively quick to pump. The classic-sized nozzle translated into longer shot times and better water conservation.

Cons

Relatively small reservoir. Blaster based on the pressurized-reservoir system, putting it at a disadvantage when compared to blasters with separate firing chambers. Not recommended for going up against anything larger than an Super Soaker XP 70.

Review By Cheryl C.

The SS40, I'm sad to say, is not known very well. This weapon is great for a classic. It should be consideried as a ultralight assualt rifle because it packs more power than six XP15s combined. It is pretty durable, but watch out for the part that connects to the bottle. It might wear down. It holds a nice amount of water considering its rate of fire. This weapon packs a punch for such a little blaster. Its stream stings on impact and actually seems to shoot out the nozzle a 2x stream even though it only has a 1x opening.

Pros: Nice power, never leaks, nice amount of water.

Cons: The attachment part to the bottle is poor and it is just too small.
