The Shield Blaster 3000 is the largest of the peristaltic-pump-based water blasters released in 2004 by Mattel Inc. Unlike most other types of water blasters on the market, the Shield Blaster series relies upon a crank-based system to push water from the reservoir and out the nozzle. Shield Blaster 3000
The Shield Blaster 3000 is the largest of the Shield Blaster lineup, used as a primary weapon and based on the same crank system as its smaller brothers.
The main feature of this blaster lineup is the idea of having a shield integrated into the blaster, capable of blocking incoming enemy fire. However, differently from the other models, this blaster does not have an openable shield; the shield is the blaster itself. As it is very wide, it can provide a good amount of cover from incoming fire. The negative thing when compared to the other system is that you are unable to block shots while firing at the same time. Overall, I would still say that the shield of the SB 3000 is as effective at blocking shots as the one on the SB 2000.
Another positive thing about this blaster, which is in common with all Shield Blasters, is its quite unique design and color choices, which I do like. I also do quite like the crank-based system and definitely prefer it to piston-based blasters, but I would not say it is better than air pressure blasters, and of course, nowhere near as good as the CPS blasters.
Performance: Here is where I would usually criticize the blaster, as all other SBs seem to have horrible range and water output; however, the 3000 is the only exception. It actually has good enough range for most water fights, and its water output is also quite good, as it presents 3 separate streams: an estimated 0.9X that shoots upwards, an estimated 2-2.5X that shoots straight, and another 0.9X that shoots downwards. These 3 streams together actually give it good water output, which will compete with most modern options. The only problem with this shooting arrangement is that the stream of the nozzle shooting downwards, unless you are at very close range (less than 5 meters), will end up on the ground instead of reaching the enemy. The capacity is also not bad, meaning you have a decent amount of shooting time before needing to reload.
Durability: This is also where I would usually have to criticize the blaster, but in this case, I really can’t complain at all, as this has proven to be one of my most durable blasters ever. I have had it for over 15 years now and the thing still works like it was brand new with absolutely no leaks. Of course, as I could have been unlucky with the smaller models, I could have gotten lucky with this one, but I can still say that, in my experience, this blaster was incredible.
Here is a summary of its pros and cons:
Pros:
1) Nice unconventional design and colour choices.
2) It offers a different experience to traditional water guns due to its crank based system and offering some cover behing the shield.
3) Good water capacity and output with decent shooting time.
4) Excellent durability (at least for my unit).
Cons:
1) Could potentially feel a bit heavy to some people since you can hold it just with one hand.
2) Some water gets wasted when shooting long range.

- Tank capacity: 1750 ml
- Max range at 45°: 9 m
- Max range aiming flat: 7.5 m
- Effective range (the max range you will actually be able to get a decent hit on someone): 8 m
- Shooting time (non-stop): 34 sec
- Output per second: 51 ml/s
Conclusions: Overall, at the time of this review (2026), I can confidently say that this is by far the best SB produced, and I can recommend it to most people as long as you like its crank-based system. It can be good both for assaults and for playing in a more defensive way, maybe taking the focus of the enemy for your team and blocking shots for them. Of course, this blaster is ideal for medium tier water fights, but can still be used in higher end battles, keeping in mind that you will get outranged and outclassed in terms of water output by most SC, and by all CPS Super Soakers, and outranged by all Spyra blasters, however if you use the shield properly, i truly believe you are able to stand your own even in those kind of fights.
The only unfortunate thing is that this blaster is quite old, meaning that it’s quite hard to find, and if you find it, you will probably need to pay more than its original price.
