The Water Warriors Power Squirt by Buzz Bee Toys Inc. is a small squeeze-action water blaster with a separate reservoir. The blaster portion is larger in overall size compared to a Water Warriors Kwik Grip XL and the external reservoir gives it greater capacity. While not a heavy hitter, the Water Warriors Power Squirt can make for a surprisingly effective mini-water blaster.
The Blaster ::
Nozzle ::
The Power Squirt features a single, small nozzle, akin to other small pistol-sized water blasters. Unlike most trigger-pump water blasters, the Power Squirt's nozzle is attached to/part of the pumping mechanism, thus the nozzle actually retracts when shooting. This is not affect range significantly, but the added motion is different.
Pump ::
As noted above, the Power Squirt's nozzle is mounted on the pump-housing. Squeezing the trigger pulls the nozzle-region backwards, pushing the water without out through the nozzle. With this set-up, the Power Squirt is able to push a little more water per shot than other trigger-based water blasters. Pumping is quick and easy, allowing one to shoot quite quickly. Granted, rate of fire is still much slower than any continuous stream water blaster. When priming the blaster, the Power Squirt does need to be pumped a few times to draw water from the reservoir into the blaster. The translucent nature of the connection tubing makes it easy to see whether water is still being drawn from the tank.
Triggers / Grip ::
The trigger and grip area of the Power Squirt is limited, but still comfortable even for those with larger hands. The bottom bar is rather thin, allowing extra fingers to rest comfortably beneath the blaster portion and not feel strained. While the grip, itself, has no particular texturing, its shape and the blaster's overall small size makes it easy to hold.
The Reservoir ::
Thanks to its external reservoir pack, the Water Warriors Power Squirt holds a good amount of water for a blaster of its size. The blaster is attached to the reservoir via a decent length of translucent tubing. The tubing, itself, is attached to the blaster, but needs to be threaded into the hole in the cap of the reservoir. According to instructions, the tubing needs to be inserted to a mark on the tubing in order to get the most out of the reservoir; unfortunately, the product tested lacked this marking. Guessing the length of tubing needed to be inserted also means that not all water in the reservoir could be used, but considering the respectable volume within the reservoir, loss of 5-10% of total capacity is not too bad.
As can be seen, the reservoir is closed via a snap cap, but it feels solid enough for its purpose. The reservoir also sports a belt clip on its backside. While the clip feels quite snug and secure, true water warfare field testing with the reservoir on has not yet been done.
Overall ::
As a whole, the Water Warriors Power Squirt is a great, small trigger-based water blaster. Its unique design gives is good payload and it is able to push out a slightly larger amount of water per squeeze than similarly sized blasters like the Water Warriors Kwik Grip XLs or other dime-store water guns. That said, being a trigger-based blaster, the Power Squirt is no match for any true continuous stream or full-sized piston water blasters. Good for taunting, small water fights, or perhaps as a last-stand blaster, the Water Warriors Power Squirt is a fun little blaster to use.
Pros
Simple styling, clean lines, and good solid feel to the soaker. Good capacity and decent output for a blaster its size.
Cons
Low output compared to small air-pressure-based blasters. No holster for the blaster portion. Intake tube must be manually inserted into the reservoir; improper position will result in less water available for use. Tough to tell amount of water remaining due to opaque reservoir.
