:: Super Soaker: Soaker Wars Hydro Fury (2-Pack)

The Super Soaker Soaker Wars Hydro Fury is the smallest of the water blasters in the Soaker Wars line released in 2010 by Hasbro Inc. Coming in either red or blue colour-schemes, the Hydro Fury is akin to the Super Soaker XP215 in terms of performance and functionality, though being slightly larger.

The Blaster ::

Nozzle ::

The Hydro Fury features a single, small nozzle, though adequate for this sized blaster. Streams produced from a fully pressurized Hydro Fury are respectable, though the model tested appeared to make streams not quite as smooth-flowing as the Super Soaker XP215 tested here.

Pump ::

The Hydro Fury's pump grip is short, cylindrical, and lightly textured, but may feel a little slippery to hold if wet. Being forward-mounted, the pump is simple and smooth when used. Interestingly the pump is not freely rotatable, but this also increases stability of the blaster when pumping.

Grip ::

As with the Super Soaker XP215, the trigger and grip area on the Hydro Fury is limited and does not offer much space for larger hands, but offering slightly more space than the Super Soaker XP215, this actual proves slightly problematic in terms of finger-positioning around the remainder of the grip. For small hands, which this blaster is likely targetted to, the grip should be fine, particularly since it has nice moulding and texturing. For larger hands, though, it is a little tricky to find an optimal placement for all one's fingers.

The Reservoir ::

Akin to water blasters like the Super Soaker XP215 and Super Soaker XP220, the Hydro Fury features a forward-inclined reservoir that feeds directly to the nozzle valve and nozzle. Unlike the older blasters, the Hydro Fury's reservoir is opaque, making it difficult to determine how much water one was remaining. As well, despite the larger diameter of the reservoir cap, the opening to the Hydro Fury's reservoir is on the smaller side, making filling a little more difficult.

Overall ::

As a whole, the Super Soaker Soaker Wars Hydro Fury is a simple pressurized reservoir blaster. Its styling falls in line with the rest of the Soaker Wars line, though its ergonomics are not as favourable as the other blasters for those with larger hands. One nice thing is that this blaster is sold as a 2-pack, making for a simple and quick water-blaster dueling kit. For its size, though, the Super Soaker Soaker Wars Hydro Fury offers decent performance. Of course, being the smallest of the Super Soaker Soaker Wars line, the Hydro Fury is best used as a back-up, for really small skirmishes, and/or cover operations.

Pros

Simple styling, clean lines, and good solid feel to the soaker.

Cons

Small blaster means very limited water supply and soaking-power. Opaque reservoir. Awkward grip size for those with larger hands.
