The BANZAI Aqua Tech Transmorpher was released in 2011 by ToyQuest. It features a number of swappable parts, allowing one to customize their water blasting action. While Nerf Super Soaker blasters with tactical rails such as the Nerf Super Soaker Shot Blast offer some additional accessories to be added, the Aqua Tech Transmorpher comes with a full complement of accessories and even has a performance-modifying add-on.

There are three (3) accessories included in the package: a Long-Range Blasting Barrel, a Targeting Scope, and a Shoulder Stock/Tripod (though it's more like a bi-pod). Altogether, the Aqua Tech Transmorpher deserves its name since one can to put together up to 11 different combinations; users can customize their blaster for different types of missions. Accessories attach securely, but not too tightly. As an aside, when attaching some parts to the top of the base, one may wish to slide pieces on, but we found it easier simply to angle parts into position, snapping them into place instead of trying to slide them on.

Customization aside, the Aqua Tech Transmorpher is a smaller-sized piston-based water blaster. Its relative performance is on the lower side and this blaster is probably best appreciated by younger water warriors.

The Blaster ::

Nozzle ::

The Aqua Tech Transmorpher's base blaster is pistol-sized and features, interestingly, a three-holed nozzle pattern. Streams for these nozzles spread apart resulting in more area hit by water. Each stream, though, is on the smaller side and range is limited as such, but for closer-range engagements, this spreading stream makes the most sense. However, this is the Aqua Tech Transmorpher

The Long-Range Blasting Barrel accessory twists on to attach over the base blaster's barrel. This accessory features only a single opening and, once attached and a priming pump or two done, range of the stream made from the Aqua Tech Transmorpher is increased by ~1.5m (~6').

That said, both the pistol's three-holed nozzle and the Long-Range Blasting Barrel's nozzle ranges offer limited output and range due to their relatively smaller nozzle openings and low volumes pushed by the pump.

Pump ::

The pump on the Aqua Tech Transmorpher is semi-tracked, sliding fairly smoothly. The pump grip is decent to hold, but the pump stroke, however, is rather short. Combined with a small internal diameter of the pump shaft, the total volume that can be pushed per pump is not very high. This impacts stream performance and how quickly one can soak one's opponents. However, being smaller, younger users should have no problem getting full performance from it.

Grip ::

The false trigger and grip area of the Aqua Tech Transmorpher is on the shorter side, but is open and decently comfortable to hold. The trigger, itself, is purely ornamental, but does add to the comfort and feel when holding the blaster. The grip, itself, hassome significant texturing, its shape and the blaster's overall small size makes it easy to hold.

The Reservoir ::

The Aqua Tech Transmorpher's design put styling as a higher priority than function. The slender lines of this blaster offers limited space for water capacity. However, being piston-based, not much space was occupied by other internals, thus the Aqua Tech Transmorpher holds an average amount of water even for a blaster of this size (only comparing based on the size of the pistol-portion without any of the accessories). Of course, since the volume pushed by each pump is also low, the reservoir's capacity offers a good amount of shots, but do not expect to fully drench another on a single tank.

Overall ::

As a whole, the Banzai Aqua Tech Transmorpher is a highly customizable water blaster better suited for the younger water warrior who wishes to use water blasters, but does not wish to get himself or his friend too wet too quickly. The various combinations will satisfy most role-playing situations while the Long-Range Blaster Barrel does improve stream performance, adding to the role-playing realism. Good for scouting, small water fights, backup, or perhaps as a last-stand blaster, the Banzai Aqua Tech Transmorpher is a fun water blaster for introducing younger children to the fun world of water warfare!

Pros

Fun styling, lots of accessories for customizing blaster configuration; functioning long-range add-on; accessories attach securely, but not too tightly

Cons

Limited output compared to small air-pressure-based blasters. No strap or holster. Requires two hands to use; cannot be dual-wielded. Top-mounted accessories can be a little tricky to attach at first.
