The Super Soaker Aquashock Secret Strike (2007) appears to be a slightly enlargened Super Soaker Max-Infusion Overload blaster with a larger reservoir, but lacking the Max-Infusion Reservoir backpack. In fact, the body size and styling are virtually identical, but the fixed reservoir has been elongated to hold more water.

The Blaster ::

supersoaker_secretstrike_nozzleNozzles ::

The Secret Strike (2007) features four nozzles as opposed to three that the Max-Infusion Overload sports; it has three stream settings and one fan setting. The nozzles are powered by a small separate pressure chamber. Two of the stream settings as well as the fan fire forward. The difference in power between the smallest and largest stream setting is not as large as seen on the Max-Infusion Overload. However, streams produced do have respectable lamination. The fourth nozzle setting is where the Secret Strike (2007) likely derives its name from; the Secret Strike nozzle. On this setting, the Secret Strike (2007) produces a stream that fires perpendicular versus the direction the blaster is pointed. The idea is that one can pretend one is surrendering, pointing one's blaster towards the sky, then when one's opponent has relaxed his/her guard, unleash a stream towards them though having the blaster pointed upwards. Though this may work once on an unsuspecting foe, being able to select the proper setting when feigning a surrender may give away the surprise.

supersoaker_secretstrike_pumpPump ::

The pump on the Secret Strike (2007) is nicely tracked, but rather short. As such, the volume of water each pump stroke moves is only half of that of an average-sized stock soaker pump. While the separate chamber is not that large, either, the small pump volume means that one still needs to pump 10 to 15 times to reach full pressure.

supersoaker_secretstrike_grip Triggers / Grip ::

The trigger and grip area have limited space, but the space available can accomodate most by the largest hands without too much re-adjusting of finger positions. The grip is nicely textured, comfortable and secure to hold even when wet. The Max-D trigger system pulls fairly smoothly, clicking the nozzle valve open and closed. The true durability of the trigger system has not been fully tested.

The Reservoir ::

supersoaker_secretstrike_capThe reservoir on the Secret Strike (2007) holds a little more than 400mL (13.3oz) more water than the Max-Infusion Overload's fixe reservoir. Like the Max-Infusion Overload, the Secret Strike (2007) reservoir cap is Max-Infusion capable, meaning that a Max-Infusion Aquapack extension reservoir can be attached to the blaster to increase total blaster capacity.

Overall ::

As a whole, Super Soaker AquaShock Secret Strike (2007) makes for a decent light-calibre water blaster. Its small pump volume and firing chamber volume mean that its streams do not pack a huge punch nor last a long duration. However, this blaster does get a number of full chamber fills from a fully loaded reservoir. Good for light skirmishes and as a backup blaster, the Super Soaker AquaShock Secret Strike (2007) can hold well against light water blaster; just be weary when facing off against anything more potent than Super Soaker Arctic Blast.

Pros

Simple design, clean lines, and good solid feel to the soaker. Four nozzle selections for flexibility on the run.

Cons

Small stream and firing chamber compared to larger soakers. Pump is on the shorter side. No strap for the blaster. Should be primed for best stream performance; stream performance without priming is acceptable for the normal stream, but notably underpowered for the larger stream and fan settings. Secret Strike nozzle not particularly useful in most cases and, at best, would be surprising only the first time.

Review:

The range is far less than the box advertises. Supposedly it will shoot 35 feet. Well I went up against a WW Hammerhead that really CAN shoot 30 feet and the best I could muster up was about 15-20 feet. Needless to say you know what happened. However the capacity of the Secret Strike is fair and I was able to outlast in that aspect.

I would not get another one.
