iS SuperSoaker cps1700box_01tbThe Super Soaker CPS 1700 is virtually identical to the Super Soaker CPS 1500 with the exception of its body colouring. Because of this, it has yet to be removed from its original packaging (Thus, all the listed stats are estimated). From others' reports, the behavior of the Super Soaker CPS 1700 is also equal to that of the Super Soaker CPS 1500. At the front of the blaster are two nozzle settings. One nozzle is rated at 5x while the other is rated at 10x. The smaller nozzle can be used to extend the firing time of the blaster. The CPS 1700 has an estimated 3.0L water reservoir yet its maximum rate of fire can easily drain its resources. The shoulder strap allows one to carry this weapon even when climbing or if using another water weapon while its built-in handle makes refilling very simple.

The Super Soaker CPS 1700 makes a great medium field blaster, perfect for any enemy engagements. The CPS 1700 can basically outclass any XP or XXP weapon in terms of firepower.

Pros

Mid-sized, light, and easy to carry thanks to its shoulder strap. Despite its size, it packs good power and stream size. It also does not take too much effort to pump up the firing chamber. The two nozzle settings also allows one to be a little more thrifty with one's water usage or more sadistic with drenching your foes.

Cons

This weapon can quickly drain is resources if the user is too trigger-happy. One should also take care not to run or fall with the pumping mechanism extended as this appears to be the most fragile part of this otherwise well-built blaster. The pump may break if not treated with proper respect.

Review:

The CPS 1700 is a different colored version of the CPS 1500, but with a slightly more durable make. The pump is smoother, and while it has been said it is slightly less powerful than the 1500, I find it more powerful, with a slightly longer range. Again, it is very slight, and both guns have amazing power and soakage which dominate the battle field when they are combined with the balance and ergonomics of the gun. An absolutely great gun, in all ways. Most choose to reinforce the pump as it is slightly fragile. I find it hard to damage it myself, although one should never underestimate someone else's stupidity with an untracked pump.

There isn’t much to say about the CPS 1700 given the fact the CPS 1500 review takes most of the words right out of my mouth.  It is not entirely the same however.  The 1700 was the year 2000 replacement for the 1500, only with the grey body colour now blue and a black pump handle; they look exactly the same and have the same design.  Shame it was only around a year before being replaced by the crappy CPS 1-3-5.

However, this isn’t exactly a bad thing; it is actually good how the 1500 has a longer life now, great given how it is one of the best soakers ever.  There are a few differences for the better actually, many people believed nothing was different between the two, but I don’t agree after previously owning both and more than one of each.  The 1700 is actually built a bit stronger and more stable.  The pump feels smoother and has a release valve which you feel working which means there are no pressure problems that I can report.  The pump lag is not as bad either.  Everything just feels smoother and there is just a general feeling that it is more reliable, combined with the usual all round well balanced feel along with big power and soakage from the 5x and 10x nozzles, every opponent’s nightmare.

The problem is, while being more stable and reliable, some big areas have been toned down slightly, and yes, you guessed it, POWEEER!  When fired, compared to the 1500 it doesn’t give off as much of a fierce stream that doesn’t go as far either with a tad less output.  Don’t get me wrong, it is still pretty devastating and it’s not like it’s been giving a bloody good hiding and told to completely shut up, it is more like being interrupted at a party and been told ‘Could you just tone it down a little guys please?’  For the most part the party is still damn loud and crazy, just like the 1700 so it has not lost a massive amount of power; however it appears to be toned down a little.  Along with this the 10x nozzle is a bit less stream lined as well a lot being more broken up and spread out, as well as firing to the left a bit slightly, still does the job at least, it can still punch your enemies hard.  The firing chamber also holds slightly less as well believe it or not so shot times are reduced slightly.  The pump as well is still a weak point so watch out and don’t snap it, and then you’ll be screwed.  Then just like the 1500 and most CPS’s, you can run out of water very quickly if you press the trigger too much.

While it might have a bit less power and oomph, at least it is built better so it is more reliable than the 1500, and still retains that well balanced light feel with power and soakage giving an offensive and defensive package only more reliable now.  If you want a 1500 but are too wary of reliability, the 1700 is a safer bet and still a good choice, the recipe is essentially the same despite being a tad less powerful.  Although either one you get being the 1500 (one that works) or 1700 will be just as good.  The CPS 1700 comes highly recommended and is a great soaker.

Using the CPS 1700

Despite being toned down a little, you can still take on pretty much every blaster and provide a competitive challenge.

Against the CPS 1700

Again a good CPS soaker will be needed along with using your own talent.  Air pressure users watch out, use with bravery.

I got the CPS 1700 for a birthday present when it first came out and HOLY COW! It was awesome! Even though it is exactly the same (except for the colors) as the older version, the CPS 1500, it is probably one of the best soakers to have in a battle. It is fairly light when loaded, packs a very hard blast, and is very easy to carry thanks to the shoulder strap. The switch for the two different stream sizes makes it perfect for changing on the chase. The 5x- and 10x-size streams are good for conserving water or totally soaking people. It can stand up to other most other CPS, XP and SC blasters models with ease. I was once in a battle and I was one on one with a kid with SS 200. I totally soaked him and I barely got wet! The only small drawback is the pump handle is a bit fragile, but other than that, it is great. You should definately consider this soaker to add to your team, but I don`t think it is being made anymore.

Super Soaker CPS1700 review:
Though unfortunately no longer being produced, the Super Soaker CPS1700 is definitely a must-have Super Soaker. The replacement for the CPS1500, the CPS1700 is virtually identical in design to the CPS1500. There are several versions of the CPS1500, some of which were reported to have design flaws that were corrected in the production with the final variant of the CPS1500 and with the CPS1700. It would be safer to pick up a CPS1700 then risk picking up a CPS1500 if you are solely interested in performance.

The CPS1700 is definately a worthy addition to anyone's arsenal. Being a mid-sized CPS blaster, this soaker fits a main role in battle which can be filled by very few other water blasters. This soaker is a favorite to many,
and definately earns its title. The CPS1700 packs a decent punch for its size. The blaster can shoot out a powerful stream on 5x and 10x using a very easy nozzle selector.

This blaster can serve as a top primary armament. The size/power/range statistics make this an ideal blaster on almost any field. The weapon is easy enough to make easy sport of smaller CPS's and XP's since it is not that difficult (time consuming/and tiring) to use pump, carry, and refill. Take good care not to abuse this weapon since it has a reputation for having a short life span. Be especially careful around the nozzle selector and pump handle. Both can break off if not given the proper respect.

Pros: Decent sized pressure chamber. Good shot time. Excellent range as well as packing a fair punch when fired. Capable of taking on most blasters and does very well in large skirmishes. Nozzles are distinct in size and are fitted with a very efficient selector. Takes a fairly decent number of pumps to pressurize. A not-too-heavy blaster.

Cons: Black plastic on back of handle doesn't mesh to blue plastic very well on some models. Non guided pump easy to break if left extended. Green colour dead giveaway. Nozzle selector fragile. Stream tends to fire a little to the left on mine. Plastic water reservoir too thin (Had one collapse in on itself). Blaster feels slightly fragile when full. Reservoir not large enough to support a 10x nozzle. Could have been designed with a 2.5x as a bonus for conserving water. Overall this is still one of the best Super Soakers ever made available.
